Three Industry Relations Questions

What was your greatest accomplishment?

There are a couple accomplishments I am proud of, but one that sticks out the most is one of my most recent men’s cuts. I have come a long way since learning them, I used to struggle a lot. Although I know I still have a lot to learn, I have also learned to enjoy them and have gotten a lot of practice. I have now done a couple mullets, and a low fade. I am proud of myself for sticking with it even when I sometimes dislike them, because it has taught me to not give up on the first try but to stick it out. Sometimes the things that we struggled with most in the beginning, is what we end up thriving in and loving later on.

What is your greatest strength?

I believe one of the things I have excelled most in at school, is having lots of clientele. I strive to always have my books full, and so far for most of my time at school I have accomplished that. I do a lot of promoting myself on social media platforms, I send out business cards at school, and have even gone up to strangers in public. My goal after school is to have a good source of clients, and so I am doing my best right now to build that up. I am happy with how well implementing marketing skills has been going for me.

What do you feel is your greatest challenge? WHY?

My greatest challenge in school has been understanding and formulating color. I am still trying to understand the why and how behind some of the formulations. I do think I have come a long way since starting school, but also I know that is something that has been the more difficult thing for me to understand. I tend to take a little longer formulating, just because I am a perfectionist. I know that as I grow as a stylist it will one day click and make sense, however sometimes I get down on myself for that. Reminding myself that the more practice I have the  I will get, therefore achieving my goal.  Also giving myself grace, since I am still getting down the basics and foundations of coloring.

Other accomplishments:

- I have gotten a lot faster at men's cuts and enjoy them a lot more.

- My clientele has grown a lot and been very satisfied with the haircuts they are receiving.

- I have been good about keeping up on my homework and accomplishing what is set before me in a timely manner. I have gotten really good at time management.

- I have gotten a lot more confident with the color line here at school and just color in general. It used to be my least favorite thing and now it is one of my favorite services.
